I originally created this blog to make sure I don't lose my English but after about two months of living in Taipei, I realized that I need to improve my Chinese...oh and of course improving my English won't hurt either :)

Yangming Mountain and BBQ
Today my aunt and uncle took me to Yangming Park to climb up some mountains (first picture above). We passed Beitou, known for its hot springs. We stopped to see the hot springs and then we saw a volcano and the smoke was still coming out of it which was pretty neat (second picture above). We first climbed up a mountain. I'm making it sound like it's no big deal but it's not as strenuous as you think. Then for lunch we had a small picnic, eating this sushi type looking food called fantuan. It comes with different types of meat and veggies in the inside but it's wrapped up in sticky rice and then covered with seaweed. We had two of those, a tea egg (egg cooked/soaked with brown sauce), and guavas. We were all surprisingly stuffed but also it was getting hotter outside and we were walking around. Then we went to see the main house of Chiang Kai-Shek. My aunt and I went on the tour while my uncle was sleeping. It was nice and it was interesting because toilets were uncommon in Taipei at the time Chiang Kai-Shek was alive and since he had a toilet at his house, it showed how luxurious his life was and how much money he had. It was just a plain toilet and him and his wife each had one but it was pretty cool.
Afterwards for dinner Drew and I ate BBQ with a couple of our coworkers (third picture above). It was really good and they gave you lemon sauce to dip the meat in. We had someone help us since we were newbies and the server wanted to make sure we knew what to do. It was funny because we told him he could go and he finally let us cook the food after he cooked the first three entres. Although I will admit, I was scared at first since the pit got really hot and there was a big flame near me lol
