I have been teaching a half-day class for the past couple of months which meets twice a week. They are different from a regular class since I meet with them, they do not have a CT (Chinese teacher), and they learn from another book. Most of the students have been at my school for a long time so really it's not a learning place but more like a daycare center. I teach an older set of students but there a lot of problems that I have to deal with like crying, fighting with one another, crying, complaining, and did I say crying? lol They are mostly 10 years old with an exception of two students who are 11 years old but they cry very easily. I guess maybe this is why I like teaching older students lol
I like most of them but they are very unmotivated, mostly because they have been at the school for a long time and they are forced to be there after Chinese school. I feel bad for them though because they don't have a lot of free time so I try to create fun projects for them to do. The teachers joke around saying we basically have to take care of them but I'm trying to look at the brighter side, at least I'm gaining experience in teaching young children....at least... lol
