So a thing or two about Taiwanese girls that I have learned through my roommate and myself is that Taiwanese girls rarely exercise and they do not like walking. I have been running these past couple of weeks at a school track and I initially wanted to wear my sports bra but my roommate advised me not to since a lot of Taiwanese girls don't show their skin like that. So when I run I just wear a sports tank top and shorts.
After work tonight I ran 25 laps on the school track and of course I was sweaty and my face was red especially since the humidity outside tonight sucked. I was walking to 7 Eleven to get something to eat and of course people were staring at me. Oh well..who cares right? Well I go into 7 Eleven and I wanted to buy this tea but I didn't really know what it was. It only cost 16 NT and I figured, eh what the heck? Let's try something new. I asked the workers about the tea in Chinese and they were nice and responded back in Chinese and not in English.
When I went to the cashier to pay my things, the guy asked me if I just played tennis. I laughed and said no, I love playing tennis but I just got done running. The other girl coworker joined in the conversation and we were talking about the names of the school track I ran at since there are two schools near my apartment and I don't know which one is which. They were so nice since they spoke Chinese to me the whole time, didn't think I was strange (that I know of), didn't ask me where I was from and why I was in Taiwan, and didn't call me an ABC. Finally..a normal conversation with people!! :)

haha they have 7-11 in Taiwan!
ReplyDeleteThey do, one on every street..no joke! I remember when I first came to Taipei I was shocked they had one. The 7-Elevens here are very popular and I always go there to get my tea and snacks :D
